Governing a Symbol: The Challenges of Managing the Palace of Versailles in the 21st Century Christophe Leribault, President of the Palace of Versailles, will examine how Versailles operates simultaneously as a historic site and a potent cultural symbol whose significance continues to evolve. He will address the central tension between preserving a museum that safeguards more than 400 years of history and adapting the estate to contemporary needs – accommodating massive global tourism, expanding digital access, improving sustainability and accessibility, and supporting its role as a stage for major political and cultural events.
