In post World War II Japan, an artist, Masuji Ono struggles through the aftermath of war, his memories of his youth and of the “floating world”, and of his remorse about his role producing propaganda in the service of the imperialist movement that led Japan into World War II. This personal history explores the choices that make him both a hero and a coward in the face of society, but also a human being.
