Concert: The Trillium Piano Trio

The Trillium Piano Trio, featuring pianist Yoko Sata Kothari, violinist Ruby Berland, and cellist Aziz Sapaev, performs music from the Baroque to the Romantic eras. In relation to the opening weekend of the special exhibition Sorolla and the Sea,” the Trillium Piano Trio’s program includes Piano Trio No. 2 in B minor by Joaquin Turina, as well as pieces by J.S. Bach and Bedřich Smetana.

Panel Discussion: Strike Fast, Dance Lightly: Artists on Boxing

Saturday, October 26, 2 – 4:30 PM

Join us for a panel discussion about the intersections of boxing and art with fellow exhibition curators. The panel will feature Arden Sherman, Glenn W. and Cornelia T. Bailey Senior Curator of Contemporary Art at the Norton, Eric Fischl, Artist and Curator, Founder, The Church, Sag Harbor, NY, Jon Rider, Director, FLAG Art Foundation, NY, and Sara Cochran, former Chief Curator, The Church, Sag Harbor, NY.

Public Lecture: Sorolla and the Sea

Friday, November 22, 6 - 7 PM

For the opening of the special exhibition Sorolla and the Sea, Guillaume Kientz, Director and CEO of the Hispanic Society Museum and Library, introduces Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida, the acclaimed Spanish “painter of light” whose renowned beach and ocean scenes from the Hispanic Society are on view through March 16. Learn about the artist whom many regard as a vital bridge between the tradition of Velázquez and Modernism.
